STEM for Service coordinated participation of US Coast Guard Atlantic Strike Team as well as the NY and NJ Army National Guards at the Helicopter Landing and Navy Band event at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, Long Island, NY. The weather was grand and the turnout was great. The helicopter landings and static displays were a hit with everyone. Navy sent three Blackhawks, Marines an Apache and Huey and USCG a Jayhawk
STEM for Service hosted a STEM Center when included a gnomon experiment to find our latitude and longitude by tracking the shadow of a stick and set up a pacing course. USCG hosted their mobile command post and mobile communications center, and NY Army National Guard showcased their field communication tools.
The tech displays got a lot of attention from kids and parents alike! Some did not like math on a Saturday or when it conflicted with eating a ice cream cone!
We look forward to another great event next year.
